Puppy Headstart
Raising a puppy is a delightful and very rewarding experience and living with a trained puppy is even more rewarding. Compassionate Veterinary Care offers basic puppy classes that encourage good behavior while helping you establish a strong bond with your new companion. Everyone wants their puppy to grow up to be a happy, healthy, well-behaved dog, and our puppy classes are an important first step towards that goal. Early socialization and training are critical to your puppy's development and can help prevent behavior problems later on. So give your puppy a head start on his journey to becoming a great dog by enrolling in one of our puppy classes starting this February.

- The cost is $165 for the six week course.
- This class, for older puppies, will continue to address puppy challenges like housetraining and socialization, but it will take your puppy's training to the next level by focusing on:
- Obedience training - sit, stay, down, come, heel, etc.
- House manners - politely greeting guests at the door, staying out of the garbage and off the counters, etc.
- Impulse control - how to get your pup's attention and cooperation in the face of all the exciting distractions out there.
- What to expect as your pup approaches adolescence and enters new (and sometimes frustrating) developmental periods.
Tailored Training Classes
Do you have an adult dog or older puppy that needs some training? Are you struggling with some specific training issues, but you haven't been able to find a class that really focuses on what you need? Compassionate Veterinary Care has the perfect option for you that combines the best aspects of both group classes and private lessons. We offer tailor-made, small, group classes that will address your most pressing training and behavior concerns. Our customized classes give you the type of individualized instruction typical of a private lesson, without losing the benefits of a group class.
Group classes are fun, economical, and help foster a supportive community among fellow students. Plus, they provide something you can't always get in an in-home private lesson -- a great "real life" opportunity to teach your dog how to stay calm and attentive to you around other dogs in a new environment. But it can be hard to find a group class that speaks to your specific needs, and sometimes, large, cookie-cutter classes just aren't appropriate for dogs with certain behavior issues. Compassionate Veterinary Care's Perfect Match Classes were designed to fill the gap between basic group classes and private lessons. If our customized classes seem like they might be a perfect match for you and your dog, please let us know and we'll have Amy Blum, our resident trainer, get in touch with you to discuss the details and answer your questions.
